I have a Fluval 305 and the factory tubing sucks. It's ribbed and over time it collects gunk, plus it's unsightly.

Is there a clear non-ribbed tubing I can use? Where can I get it?

5/8" tubing from the hardware store works.... but unless you get the reinforced stuff it will collapse when you try to bend it over tank lip... you can avoid that with some other mfg intake/output or custom make one.

Thanks, I'll still use the fluval mounts so it shouldn't collapse. Appreciate it!

So I'm not the only one not happy with the ribbed tubing. ;)

You might have an easier time getting the tubing on if you dip it in really hot (not boiling) water for a few seconds, then take a pair of needle nose pliers opened inside the tubing to stretch it a bit. This really helps from my experience. Just don't forget the clamps.

if you are going to try the fluval mounts get the reinforced tubing... looks like it has a bunch of fibers embedded in the plastic... that makes it stiffer and keeps it from collapsing.

The fluval mounts won't work, i've tryed it already and ended up just using ehiem parts.

I was eye-balling the Eheim parts too... I'll have to bring the mounts with me when I go looking for the tubing this week. I really don't want to have to pay more all because of poor design on Fluval's part. I really don't like this filter at all. The seal hasn't properly set a few times and dumped a couple gallons of water out after maint. a couple times and it rattles quite a bit, hit it enough times and it'll quiet down until the next power cycle. :mad2:
