Right now my flowerhorn is giving it a 4th try. He is male prob just under a year old. I have had no success so far. Last time eggs turnd white by the end of the 2nd day far before any fungus set in.

There are many websites online That I found using google that say flowerhorns are not sterile.

Anyone with experience trying to breed these? In my opinion they are, or at least I think mine is.

If this is your males fourth time he is sterile as Ive posted before for you. The line breeding causes males to be sterile. You must find a proven fertile male if you want to have success. Even then I would never breed these.

Not all are fertile....easy google will tell you that..just dedication to true the line up which isn't far away

I'm just getting a group consensus to gauge a frequency of sterility. I've personally talked to someone who has had success with breeding these fish so I'm curcious if this was an isolated incident. I do take what you say under consideration when reaching a conclusion.

Doesn't seem to be isolated at all to me.....take a look at the breeders in the orient...

Check out MFKs flower horn section and you'll get your answers. About 85% of the flower male population are sterile, only females are fertile

Correct me if I am wrong, but thought the orient breeders got their flowerhorns the "true" way by mixing different fish. Also, has anyone else noticed how trimacs look VERY similar to flowerhorns?

Well it's believed that trimacs/ large koked Midas/ lyonsi/ red devils were all used. Then getting the pearls and such were caused by breeding with the Texas cichlids and then there's some Veija species that were used it's basically just a huge mess... Blood parrots are also used but I have no idea what makes them

but "true" to me is using fertile males, few that there are, to breed with fertile females....just a matter of time before the percentage of fertile males increases with selective breeding...
