OK, I was looking on craigslist and there is a 75 gallon tank and stand going for 100 bucks that looks really really good. The catch is the tank has a crack in it. I attached a picture of it.

It's a glass tank. My question is, is there any way to fix a crack like that? Thanks.

Only by completely replacing the bottom pane....which will probably cost you about $100-$150....if the tank were free (which it should be with that kind of damage), it might be worth considering.

Too much for that kind of damage unless you have a piece of glass lying around. I have fixed smaller aquariums with cracks near the top of the side panes before but the bottom one I would just replace and not repair.

That's way too much money for that tank, even though it includes a stand. I'm asking $30 for a chipped 75 that still holds water, if that gives you an idea.

I saw that stand in petsmart, it retails for 200, and it includes a hood/lights, heater, and 100 pounds of gravel. So, I don't think he's too far off in his price, I was just wondering if it was fixable.

couldnt you just patch over it? you woulndt see the peice of glass you use to patch over it with too because it would be under your substrate

everyone else is right, the fixing price is more than likely going to be more than youre paying for it right now..

There's no way I'd risk just patching it. A crack like that is a serious threat to the structural integrity of the tank, even if it is patched. 75 gallons is a LOT of water to end up on your floor.

I wasn't talking about fixing it when I said he isn't far off in price. I'm just saying that buying a used stand that looks brand new, hood and lights, and filter for a 75 gallon aquarium for 100 bucks isn't a bad deal. I might buy it whether the tank can be fixed or not.
