Figure 8 Tank mates?

i have my F8 in with 2 bumblebee gobies and 3 ottos. She doesnt bother them, she seems to enjoy watching them actually. I think it depends on if your F8 is aggressive or not. My F8 is pretty easy goin.
I would suggest if you get ur F8 a tank make that you have a back up plan incase ur F8 doesnt get along with its new tank mates.

Fballguy I wonder if your thinking of the Green spotted puffer they are pretty nasty but figure 8 are one of the most docile puffers, thats not to say there not a puffer but they supposedly do better with tankmates than most. So far it apears there isnt to much aggresion and he was housed with a tank of red scats at the lfs and didnt bother them a bet during the 20 min I wathced him.

I house my f8 with two knight gobies. No probs at all. Knights are fairly eratic fish and can be a bit zippy for an f8 so try and get a M/F pair to keep them occupied. Lots of rockwork too. I also have a 29g.

I read that on a couple of different site and I'm sure it was for F8 puffers. I did read that they are among the most docile of puffers, but that really is not saying much. Beware that just like any puffer, F8's have been known to live just fine with tankmates, then suddenly turn and kill everything even after several years of being together.

I'll see if I can find those links for you.

Young individuals are usually peaceful. Older specimens are territorial and aggressive. All ages are aggressive towards their own species. Best kept alone, but if kept in a community tank, combine with hardy fish of similar sizes. Will attack plants and nip fins of other fish.

Figure 8 puffers are relatively peaceful fish, which can be kept quite safely with fish such as bumblebee gobies, but figure 8 puffers do tend to bite the fins of other fish.

That's all I can find right now.

Like I said I have never tried them with other fish so I'm interested to hear what people have kept them with. I may try guppies and see what happens. From there maybe I will try other fish, will wait and see.

My figure 8 lives with one of my green spotted puffers, a few mollies and 4 bumblebees.
Lucky for me there not aggressive but they can be so take caution.

well I have been slowly increasing to backish and raised the gravity to 1.02 from 1.01 yesterday over two hours and the chromides started to act oddly. I had a feeling that they wheren't takeing to the salt and sure enough they where dead this morning. Must have been because they where kept in fresh water there whole lives. Guess Im gonna have to try something else.
