Feeding fish mosquito larvae?

simple answer..yes

yes you can but what kind of fish are you feeding them to. I would not
recommend live ones not unless you are going to farm them your self. But if your going for frozen ones then thats ok.

Im feeding them to gold fish guppys and other diff kinds of fish. Im feeding them live mosquito larvae not frozen, i have a pond with no fish at all so thats where im getting them from, do you think that live is better then frozen? Its very cool to watch the fish eat up all the mosquito larvae. Why is frozen better than live?

I like it when they eat it live because its a cool show lol. Its like the gold fish are sharks and the mosquito larvae are small fish, so its a very coll show. Ill keep on feeding them live insted of frozen.

I believe what b19fish is referring to is controlling the production of the larvae.

in the wild the larvae are subject and exposed to many things , bacteria, virus, pesticides etc.

frozen are cultured(hopefully) in a controlled environment and thus less likely to be exposed to said issues.

if you can controll the environement the larvae are raised in, then (while I don't advocate it) go for it.
west nile was recently found in my area so I stay away from the issue..not that it harms the fish but I don't want to have the possibility of releasing west nile over my head;)

mosqiuto larvae are excellent fish food. the fish love eating them, and if you collect them locally you help reduce mosquito problems. it is one of the main foods I feed my fish and i collect them from an old broken fountain in my yard. it really keeps the population in-check. I dont know the nutritional value of them though...

The mosquito population at my house is much smaller since I started doing this.

If you just drain the fountain then you wont have a mosquito problem :p:
