Help I can't figure out the best for a 55 gallon community planted aquarium. Experts please!:help2:

I have heard alot of good things about the Marineland C-360 .... Here is a video talking about canister filter setup and he is using the C-360 for the example..

I believe I will be getting me one for my 55g when I get the extra cash :)

The C-360 all the way.

OMG a primer-button!

I haven't tried all three, but I have an xP3 on my 55 and it's perfect all the time. I clean out every two months or so and that's it.

BTW: Dr. Foster&Smith is having a sale on some canister filters.

Have you run a Fluvall or C-360....

I've had a Fluval and I certainly wasn't impressed. It was a lot noisier that my Eheims and I hated the hose system. Unfortunately the Marineland is not commonly available in the UK so haven't tried it. There is also very little price difference between Eheim and Rena over here. Interestingly HOB filters are hardly used if at all in the UK. The biggest sellers are Fluval because they are the cheapest.

I know that I carry on about the Eheim brand but I suppose it's my engineering background that recognises the quality.

Thanks for your response! However the OP wasn't questioning the eheim.

I also have an engineering backgroun and have used all of the filters in question. If you want to spend extra money for no appreciable capabilities, by all means spend the extra bucks on the "E"s.

I feel it is inappropriate to rate a specific brand better than others when you you haven't used them. It is okay to state your opinion or repeat someone else's experience, but to claim the one is better than other's without personal experience is a bit mis-leading.
