Ok, yesterday I came home from vacation when I looked in my tank and saw a grizzly seen, my jack dempsey literally ripping my convict cichlid to pieces! It was a real suprise to me bacause when I left, there really was no interaction between them. I managed to take the convict out and he is in a seperate tank right now, but I think its too late for him. He is mostly descaled, part of his spine is exposed, and he has parts missing. I want to euthanize him too stop his suffering. I wanted to use clove oil, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. Is there any other method? My friend suggested putting a pain killer like tylenol or advil into the water. Would that be ok?

Blunt tramua....or slice off the head.

Clove oil is easily found at GNC stores, btw.

I have always heard that freezing a fish is not a humane way to euthanize. I am looking for some kind of chemical way to kill the fish because I just can't bring my self to chop, crush, stab, ect it. I find it odd that I have no problem killing a fish I catch when I want to eat it, but it is so hard for me to kill a fish I have cared for.

Sometimes when I'm fishing, I like to use curled creek chubs, in order to curl the chub onto the hook, You need to run the hook into the fishes mouth down its throat and out its tail. That would obviously take some Charles Manson type of person to do to a live fish, so first I must kill it in a more human manor.

I've tried a few things, but honestly nothing is faster than sitting it on the floor and stomping it... Just turn your head and close your eyes. Another solid choice is to use your thumb and pointer finger, place each finger over a gill and squeeze really hard. Both ways, will put it out of its misery instantly.
