Eight line wrasse??

Im having difficulties determing how reef safe these little critters are. Some websites say they are safe but monitor around shrimp? I really like these guys my LFS has an amazing one. I have snails and hermit crabs, Im torn. I want it, I dont want it to become an annoyance in my tank if I cant catch him.. any suggestions???

eightline wrasse? or sixline?


eightline are agressive and eat snails/crustaceans bully smaller fish and remove scales when doing so


sixlines are reef safe and preferededed

yea eightline. Ive had a six line, he got eaten by my coralbanded, I like the eight line its bigger and in my opinion prettier. But yea, I know they will eat some smaller shrimps and stuff. Im just wondering if he would eat my turbo snails and hermit crabs....

depending on how big your turbo is but after a while youll see them disappearing hermits seem tobe safe from them

hmmm, I dont know. My turbos range from small to huge. I would think my hermits would be more at risk because he could just eat their legs off ...I don't know how he would eat the snails other than if they fell over. Than again these fish are probably really smart.

either way.. both of the inverts if not all are at jepordy.. i can try i but i have my doubts
