pretty much told me to **** off. read bottom to up.
what do you think?

Dear ___________,

Unfortunately we do not carry any filter media or accessories. All we have in our location is spare parts (impellers, shafts, o-rings) and a few filter pads. If you are not satisfied with the product, you should be able to return it to the retailer.

Yours truly,

Well that is a good analogy, but I did purchase them for the same
price, if that changes the dynamics. And I did not know that at the
time of purchase, and I really don't want to talk to the dealer about
this. I do not want to return everything because that seems rude to
everyone in the process. Can I buy just them as spare parts from you
at a discounted rate considering my situation? As an Eheim customer,
I think you guys should do something! I've bought other products over
the years as well: (the automatic fish feeder) and a co2
diffuser/reactor.

All I'm asking for are:
InstallationsSET 1 (suction side)
4005300

InstallationsSET 2 (pressure side)
4005310

and some media. (even some is better then none! and i got the latter)

The way I think of it, is I bought 2 2009 models but got the shorter
end of the stick. But thank you for your time and I hope something
can be done.

If you and the lfs owner have a good relationship, i don't see why it would be any problem at all to ask him if he can exchange the older (new) filter for the newer model.

given the reasoning for which you purchased them, it would seem like a valid enough reason, and I don't think you'd look rude at all for doing so.

return it to the lfs where you bought it, i have had nothing but good service from eheim north america, my only suggestion to them was they should move to texas, they sent me a card, thanking me for the suggestion and a coupon for 20%off my next purchase

Should have just returned the one with the issues right away...I would have.

If you haven't used the thing yet, and still have your paperwork/receipt, you still should.

nope, i actually set up the "old" one first, then the 2nd "updated" version a day or 2 later. then i found out everythings different.
i stuffed the old one with floss and started it up right away.

awe man, that's too bad.

I do hate it when companies change models without changing their model numbers.

It wasnt a model change, just a running update on the current model.

@OP, didnt the second box feel about 5lbs heavier and have a yellow sticker stating that it came with media?

But, If Eheim says to get the media is to return it, why hesitate. Take it down, clean and dry it out, then take it back. The media it comes with is worth about $100-125 if you had to pay out of pocket, and its not like the LFS is gonna get screwed, they will be getting a newer unit too.

It's a hassle for me to break down, clean up (and set up the new one when i get that), its a hassle for the LFS. By law, the product will be considered not new, and probably refurbished. wasting my time, and it will waste eheim's time when, EHEIM will have to take it back or whoever eheim sets up to do it. and they will stick in the new stuff and sell it again for 1/2 off, and some other smuck can take it. I don't understand why they are being such beuacratic jerks. I said i was willing to pay for the stuff too! (at a discounted price), I thought that was a win win offer for them.

the said all they had were orings etc etc. everythign but my stuff. thats so much bull.
