Just curious to see how many Eel keepers we have (even if you don't have one now, have you had them in the past?). Three questions ya must answer :) : 1) What eel(s) are you currently keeping and what are they eating 2) What eel(s) have you kept in the past? 3) What is your dream eel(s) and money is no issue. I'll start it (obviously :) )
1. Zebra Moray Eel and Black Ribbon Moray and they eat imitation crab meat, scallops, shrimp, and krill.
2. Ghost Ribbon Eel (P. brummeri), and Snowflake Moray
3. Golden Dwarf Moray and Hawaiian Dragon Moray
Now what all do you guys keep?
 
I currently don't have an eel, nor have I ever had one. but I setup a tank for my nephew and he wanted a Snowflake Eel, so I got him one.

Funny story, after my nephew (he was 9) decided he didn't want the tank anymore (which I knew would happen) my brother in law took the eel back to the store. He put the eel in a tupperware container. Well he got in a car accident on the way tot he store, the container fell over and the eel and water spilled out.

The eel was put back in the container without water for over an hour! When he got the eel to the store they put it in a tank and it swam around and did fine, without missing a beat!

Just one snowflake, whose about 24 inches right now. He eats shopped sqiud, mussels, crab meat, squid, octopus, and some fish. The one and only eel we've had. Not sure what other eels we might get--I usually don't make the SW purchases. ;)
 
I kept a 12 inch snowflake for about 3 days when I was first starting out in saltwater before returning it to my LFS. One of their guys said that my tank (46 gallon with no live rock at that time) would be fine for an eel. He was visibly not doing well in my tank after two days, so I returned it and stopped listening to that guy. He wouldn't eat anything I tossed in there, so the food issue is moot.

As far as a dream eel, I want the species in Reefscape's avatar. I believe it is a Hawaiian Dragon eel. That is one awsome specimen! :cool:
 
Have a snowflake, eats flake, feeders(occasionally-guppies),shrimp and FD krill.

Had another snowflake prior to above one, but it went carpet surfing- didn't find it for 3 days. Ate all the above except flake.

Would like to get a Hawaii'n Dragon, all color phases of the Ribbon, and Banded Snake eels. there are also one or two others, but the three mentioned are my 'dream eels'.

I have had 2 eels in my past, garden eel and a snow flake eel. I loved them both but had problems, they both climbed out fo the tank. The snow flake was feed on squid and silver sides and ate really well, and i had him for months. And the same for my garden but he was picked on and tormented a bit, I would love to have these guys again with a deeper sand bed and a few more of them. They are really neat when the bob their heads out of the sand.

I currently have a snowflake that eats flakes, freeze-dried krill, and anything else it catches. I had a snowflake before. It died when my tank sprang a leak and I had to move him. I wish I had a garden full of garden eels. I liked watching them when I was out scubadiving by St. Lucia.
 
i have japanese dragon eel at the moment. i feed him anchovies. its like a giant silverside. its pretty ****ing tight to watch him eat it because the frozen fish is so big. in the past i had a tesselata. but that thing got ginormous withing 6 a month period.
 
i had about a foot long snowflake he ate frozen silversides, frozen krill, jumbo shrimp, and feeder gold fish...and my sally crabs...
