my 400L tank has a crack in it! i found the water slowly spilling out this morning and quickly put all my fish in a bucket..and 2 spare 5 gallon tanks..(i had nothing else) anyway the tank is going to be replaced in 2 weeks!

i managed to get a really cheap 20gallon tank to deal with for 2 weeks...but now i realized its going to be longer since i'll need to cycle again arghhh

so my questions are:

the 20gallon is all i can get so no chance of finiding another will my tetratec ex1200 (for tanks 200l-500l) be ok? and not over filter the water? the water is from the tank.

the fish in the 20galllon are all under 4" - gold severum, blood parrot,keyhole,kribensis,2 silver dollars,2 angel fish

not good i know! 100% nothing i can do :girl:

Get some type of large rubbermaid or storage container with more volume..??

You can buy a silicon sealant at your local pet store.

the tank is a designer tank that cost over £2000 i'm not sticking it. i shall wait for my new one. my only question was can i put my ex1200 filter in a 20gallon? i cant put a bigger tank anywhere at all ...because the 400l tank is still in my room and the 30g ...i live in a penthouse

Is there any way to adjust the flow, or slow it down? I wouldn't think you'd have too much problem. I'm not totally familiar with the ex1200.

You can put an oversized filter on a smaller tank. Overfiltration is actually a good thing. Your only concern would be if the output caused too much current in the tank, being that Angels and Severums don't care for alot of current and may get stressed. You could probably figure a way to put plastic or something in front of it to slow down or break up the flow if it's a problem.

The biggest upside to using your current filter would be you won't need to cycle your new tank when you get it. If you use the same filter and gravel you are using now it will give you an instant cycle, so that's the good news.
