So I picked up a total of 5 of these "Dwarf Red Lilly" bulbs a couple of weeks ago and 4 of them are doing great but this one had two or three leaves on it that "fell off/melted" but I've just left it in my 10gal with a few blackberry shrimp. Is it a gonner? Should I leave it in the tank and see if new growth appears? Take it out and let it dry, then try again? (does that even work?)

thanks...

Any time I have to move mine, all the leaves melt off but then in time they come back. Yours seem to have a white fungus or something on them. Have they gotten soft?

Dunno? haven't squeezed it. That white stuff is all over a piece of mopani wood that is in the 10gal tank also, my Zebra Nerite snail in that tank loves eating the white stuff but the mopani is still half covered in it.

If it hasn't gone soft should I just leave it or take it out and let it dry again?

I would think you would have seen growth by now but if its not soft, I'm not sure if you should still leave it in or not. I just know that once soft they are probably rotting. Hopefully someone else that knows a bit more about bulb plants will come along with more advice.

I picked up two of them a few months ago. One grew very quickly and I never had any problems moving or adjusting it (fish kept rolling it around). The other didn't show any signs of growth and I had just about given up on it until about a month ago. Never had any leaves fall off, but I do notice that they seem to sprout multiple clusters (don't really know what to call them) at different rates over the life of the bulb so I wouldn't declare it lost just yet. My slow grower is still sprouting new leaves and possible a third cluster. Not sure about the fast grower since the bulb is now buried under the sand and roots of the 2 clusters it sprouted. Not sure how that white stuff or whatever it seems to have growing on it would effect it though.

Dwarf Lilly

Does anyone know how big the dwarf lilly gets. The reason I am asking is because I would like to put one in my 4 gallon nano!
