This morning when I woke up I went to check on my 2 guppies and ADF. I saw the ADF, Kermit, upside down in the back! I went to get the net to scoop him out and when I got him the net he flipped back around and tried to get out! Now he is hanging on the plants and stuff. He is awefully skinny. I left for a week and he was fine and someone took care of the fish. She said that she only saw him once that week and when I got back he was extremely skinny. I don't know what's wrong with him! HELP!

All my ADF"S are kermit as well! he is hungry. feed him. He probalby didn't eat, you need to put th food in his mouth with tweezers (special long ones) or a turkey baster.

then feed him once a day till his belly is round. then go to every other day or so.

what are you feeding it?

As for how he is laying, it is ok. they often seem dead. You have to find it and feed it though, where ever it hides. If you don't it'll starve (I think 2 of mine have or they were constipated by freeze dried worms).

He might do better with a buddy. they like having more than one. You'll see them more too.

I feed Kermit frog pellets that are made for aquatic frogs..I just put the food in the tank and it will sink to the bottom. He will then go around looking the the food and eating it. How do I feed him with tweezers? He is in a 6 gallon tank with 2 guppies. Is that too many fish already or is adding another ADF ok?

I think another adf is ok. I have read that guppies need more space 10g at least. SO you would take the pellet and drop it right in front of him. they are nearsighted and you want to ensure he is eating right now, so watch him put it in his mouth.

the 2 that died, one was really malnutritioned. He grew all funny and it was very hard to keep him with food in his little belly. So you want to avoid that. They also like a variety of worms, that can be purchased frozen or dried. Your other fish would enjoy them as well. That is what I feed with a baster. After a time they see the baster coming and go right to it for food.

Thanks! I will get him healthy before I purchase another ADF.

You could remove him into a smaller bowl/tank so that you can feed him up easier and be sure he's actually getting the food. When you get him back in shape, put him back in the 6.

I have 2 adfs in a small one gallon tank..with only about a 3 inch depth of water some gravel and a thick matt of moss. It's a temporary home...but it is easy feeding them in this setup. One of them was getting skinny looking, that's why I put them in here. Apparently the one wasn't getting his share. He's fattened up quite a bit since being in this setup with his bud.

BTW, I do daily water changes in this tank..but I have noticed since putting the moss in, the water stays quite a bit clearer and I can go every other day instead.

if you had female guppies then i woulda gree that the 6 is too small, but seeing how they're both male, they should be fine as long as they don't fight. plenty of plants and hiding spaces will keep that from happening.

Taking the frog out to feed will cause unnecessary stress.

Please read the FAQ on frogs that I have in my signature. It will help you.

Frogs are fine as solitary creatures. The benefits of having more than one are really just for human entertainment.

Get some frozen bloodworms and feed the frogs with those using a method listed in my FAQ.

What are your water parameters?
