Does anyone have any experience with the fish disease lymphocystis.I think my black swordtails have it.So far what i read describes it but doesn't say if its curable or can infect other fish?Look towards the tail to see what i think is a cyst looking thing.

That doesn't look like lymphocystis to me. Combined with the spots on the back it looks more like the generalised skin complaints mollies are prone to in moderately hard to soft water. I wonder if the swordtails are also sensitive - they do prefer hard water. What's your GH?

Depends on the angle she has a blue shine to her.On her back the scales are more blue and under her belly they are somewhat white. What the things look like towards the tail is like blister or sack ,i know the pic isn't that clear. The sacks swell up then burst.
DSC02801.JPGMy test kit doesn't have a test for GH.When i was at the lfs up the street they still didn't get some in yet. There fish department is very small.

When i got the fish i asked about the color on the back and was told from cross breeding thats why its not solid black.Does that make sense cause i know nothing about breeding.

They don't get on well in soft water. Swordtails aren't as bad, but those flecks on the back look exactly like the specs of skin infection you often see on mollies kept in sub-optimal conditions.

Do you know anyway whether your water is hard or soft? TBH you shouldn't really consider the stocking of a tank until you know this.

Its on the softer side there are no hard water stains around the house and even generic soap lathers great.Once i can get a ride to another store i will get a GH test kit.Sucks not being able to drive right now!!!!!!

Before doing anything why dont you chase the fish a bit to see if white things comes off as it could be something stucked to fish?
Try: White Spot on My Apisto

If it doesnt, vid?

Its only white after it bursts. The sacks or growth is the same color as the fish. Its like a cluster of them and as they swell it eventually bursts then there is a white ring that lasts for a day or so.
The two books i have list illnesses and diseases but doesn't have any pics so i really have no clue.
