So as I'm sitting in my front of my tank watching the two new additions (Kuhli loach, and an african dwarf frog :D) I notice all the snails cruising around like usual, then I look up to see my big ivory dude decide that he's not content with just cruisin on the glass... Noooo he wants to walk on the water. And he does.

ITS SO WEIRD!
He just decides to go upside down and cruise along the top of the water.

Does anyone else see this? It's so weird.

So I snapped some pics. lol

Yeah! My apple snails do that and they make a funnel with their foot to gather floating food and siphon it into them to eat while floating.

thats neat i've seen my pond snails doing that! and i only noticed because i was sitting in front of my tank staring at my critters.... :D

my pond snails do that constantly. it's the weirdest thing i've ever seen. they like to just float through the water, too >.>

This is very common. They're ability to "walk on water" was the focal point of a scientific study last year.

the equivilent of surfing lol

I have had many snails in the past that have done that... but the snails I have currently (mystery snails, and pond snails) dont seem to do it much if at all

My snails have never done this before. Not until I added my new snails that I got from someone off here :D
They brought this strange behavior with them lol
It's ok, it's cute :)

Snails definately have abilities beyond our understanding. I noticed my MTS were making letters in the sand every few days. I've been recording them in a log, and this morning's letter was a capital "G". I think they are trying to tell me something... but it's in some sort of code, or snail language, that, happens to use roman characters. Snails are crazy.
