i have always wondered what this catfish eats. i once had one and fed it sinking tablets, but does it also eat algae too? i noticed that when i kept it, i never saw growth of algae. i'm just really curious.

They don't. Mouth is not effectively structured to eat algae. How long has your tank has been running?

i do not have one anymore, but as i was thinking back to when i DID have one, it kinda struck me that i never wondered that before.

also, i might be thinking about getting one, maybe......depends.......

I love mine, but you do need to know that they will eat anything they can fit in their mouths. Mine is 5 years old. They like a cave and they don't like many visitors. He'll just shove other fish out when he gets crabby.

He doesn't eat algae, but I've seen him swallow an entire algae disc before without blinking. I usually drop in his food and turn out the lights.

When they are young they will feed from the top of the water, but eventually that stops.

He ate a school of danios I tried once. Oops.

they are really that carnivorous? and since they seem so agressive, would one be able to survive in a Mbuna tank?

how big do they get? i probably won't get 1, but still i am curious.
