I've decided to make a CO2 Diffuser since I will soon be getting a C02 tank and regulator. I bought a bigger better tank last week and high powered lights (I will be moving into a new place and everyone (fish) will go into the new tank. Anyway, onto my question:
Do I really need this air valve?:read:

This Diffuser is based on the Jaqno (pronounced: Jareko) Diffuser:

ADA has taken over the market with glass diffusers it seems becomes I can't find an official Jaqno website, but I like their diffuser (I like glass diffusers too, I have two, they're pretty:dance2

Continuing on, While searching for 外部式拡散筒 (gaibu shiki kakusan tsutsu or simply, "external Mixer") I found this designs for a DIY version of the Jaqno....

So I headed off and bought the materials and came up with this:

However, I left off the airhose valve bit. Is this necessary? Not sure if the original has one or not, but his site talks about unwanted bits of gas collecting in the chamber.

The site also says eiheim hoses won't fit 13mm pvc pipes used in the design. Is this true? What is the size of their hoses?
