Darn it, sick gourami--diagnosis?

Well, this has been a bad week in my tank so far. First I posted about my barb whose nicked fin looked suspicious. Well, that cleared up on its own with extra water changes, but now my honey red gourami is looking under the weather.
He's grown very pale, weak, and listless. And, he looks slightly bloated (but no "pinecone" scales).
The stats in the main tank are ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 5 to 10, ph 7 to 7.5. The rest of the fish (so far!) are behaving normally, but I'm keeping my eyes on them.
I removed the gourami to QT, because I don't want to medicate the main tank. But even now that he's in QT, I don't know which med to use. Is it constipation? Internal bacterial infection? Just before putting him in QT, I saw him glance off several plants in my main tank, which made me wonder--parasite? But nothing new has gone in my tank since the 1st week of May (the otos, and they were quarantined).
But I did read that the parasites costia, chilodinella, trichodina, and gyrodactylus cause "cloudy" or "milky" skin. My fish is very pale--does this count as "milky"?
I just checked on him in QT--sitting on the bottom, kinda tilting to one side--not good, not good at all.
In March I lost his partner (they were purchased together) to the very same symptoms. And, like this time, the gourami went from seeming just fine to dead within a day. He, too, was pale and weak, but with no other visible symptoms, I didn't know how to medicate him.
I hear that these honey reds are injected with hormones to make them all males, which in turn shortens their lifespans. Maybe both my gouramis suffered/are suffering from this?

Pics would help...but are sure it isn't just constipation? It could be stressed out from all the recent issues in that tank.

The gourami did eat food this morning, though not as eagerly as usual. It hung back in the corner at first, but finally came out to eat. I didn't see if anything came out the other end....
Here are some pics. Oddly, it looks much more pale in real life--I think the camera flash is enhancing its color. Also, in the third pic, it looks like the scales are sticking up a little.

Will epsom salt relieve its bloating?

My eyes may be fooling me but the scales on the rear part appear to be sticking out. It looks like bloat to me. What do you feed them?

By the way, your gourami looks like a Colisa sota to me. Epsom salts may help.

Well, I feed Tetra flakes and sinking granules to the gourami and the barbs. And I feed peas to everyone about once every other week.
However, just two days ago, I fed the gourami 2 or 3 bloodworms. I handfed him as a treat (some treat, huh?). I read online that bloodworms can cause constipation--but this was the first time I'd opened the bloodworm bottle in months. I don't use them regularly.
And as for the tank having issues, not much really happened except I posted a long post on AC :). One barb's tail looked suspicious, and people here suggested fin rot, so I did some extra water changes. I changed between 10% and 15% every day for the past 3 days. The tail looks normal now. I never added any meds or any salt.
I looked up info on epsom salt, and lots of sites suggest using it as a dip. But can I keep it in the QT tank, say, overnight? And how much should I use?

Oh, and thanks, Lupin, for the scientific name. The lfs where I bought the original pair did not know it. I tried looking it up online a long time ago--are Colisa sota and Trichogaster chuna the same fish? The same photos come up no matter which one I search for....

They're the same fish. We get name changes as time passes.

Best use the epsom salt as a dip. More info can be found here regarding constipation.

It looks like bloat to me as well, however it could be constipation causinghim to be swollen. Try feeding him some peas. One thing to note if you are feeding freeze dried foods, let them rehydrate before feeding them to your fish..:)
