I've always admired Celestial Pearl Danio's, but are they too small to house with a male betta? I'm wondering if my betta will think I brought a buffet home with me if I choose these little guys for tankmates. Has anyone successfully mixed these?
I picked out Valentine partly because he was sandwiched between a psycho blue and crazy red who were flaring like crazy, and he calmly ignored everyone. He has proven to be a mellow dude, currently in a moderately planted 10-gallon by himself for the last week. He loves leaning against the dwarf sag and crypts, letting the flow massage his fins... :naughty:
My second choice would be rasbora hengeli or espei... they're nice schoolers but seem a teeny bit spastic? :coffee2:
I'm thinking 6-8 CPD's or 5-6 rasbora... I'm also hoping to get a handful of dwarf cories in there one day.
I appreciate any helpful input/suggestions!
edit: Here's a pic from his first photo shoot! My husband swears he's getting pinker. I realize cardinal tetras would really offset his color... but from what I've seen they tend to hug more towards the middle/lower part of tanks, and don't school very well (in smaller groups/tanks).
