Cory Eggs? What fish will eat them?

For the last 2 weeks I have been finding these CARPETS of eggs in the tank. I'm pretty sure it's the cory's. They are clogging the filter and the tank is a mess. We only have 1 cory left--after this last egg laying spree our other one died.

Do you think the 1 that's left will keep laying eggs? I know they do better in a school but if I go get 5 more how many eggs will I be dealing with?

How about something that will eat the eggs? What would you all suggest I get? Maybe a bristlenose pleco? I DO NOT want little baby cory's--and these eggs are driving me crazy!!

THANKS for any advice. Berta

20 gal long: 2 albino cory cats

I doubt it's the cories.... corie eggs are typically stuck to the glass, ornaments, or plants.... they aren't free flowing enough to wind up in the filter.

Well, I wondered about that. From some of the pictures I found on Google they looked more like Corys than anything else in the tank!

The eggs are stuck together just like a mat all over the bottom of the tank. There are so many of them that I can just scoop them up with the net all in one piece; but they aren't on the glass or anything.

What happens is when the cory's swim through them on the bottom of the tank they break apart and little bits go into the filter.

It's always something weird with these fish--they can't just have normal eggs! Berta
