Ok I did a 40% water change to try to clear up the water today. I removed everything from the tank except the fish and the substrate (gravel). Siphoned the gravel and removed a ton of fish waste. I have a Penguin 200 filter. I replaced the cartidge with a new one today also.

Now after a good 4-5 hours of running I still have an etremely large amount of silt and the water is extremely cloudy.

Any ideas on how I can clear up my water??????

Please help, I am fearful for my fish!!!!

There's your problem... fists don't belong in a tank! They are violent and stir up nothing but trouble! :joke:

On the serious side there are products sold that will clear the water by bonding to particulates and causing them to sink. I do not use them because from what I hear they are instant death to inverts and I like mine alive. Someone may know a brand name of one of these products... they work very well, I've seen it in action in a turtle tank that was disgustingly dirty. The owner used this stuff he poured (a measured amount) into the tank and all the floating particles clumped and sank to the bottom where they were easy to siphon out.

I have heard of that stuff too. I haven't been able to find anything that truthfully states how safe this stuff is and how well it works. :read:

Someone please help me out with some ideas as to clear up my water.
