Cleaning Sand with Gravel Vaccum

Hi Friends !

Can I clean sand substrate with the Normal Gravel Vacuum cleaner, at every water change to remove solid waste and debris ?

If yes, then do I just hover the tube above the sand or do I dig it in a little like I did with the gravel ?

Kindly guide me a little...

Just hover above the sand is what I do

Practice a bit, it depends on the grain size. I use pool filter sand & can deep vac with a small gravel vac but it's only ~1.5 inches deep. Really fine grain & you'll need to hover & swirl like petluvr said. Either way you may lose a tiny bit of dust each time, no big deal.
