So my dear aunt got me a chia pet for Christmas. So I thought, what am I going to do with all the extra seeds I get from this. I put some in the fish tank of course. Right off the bat my Angels ate some of them, and all of them got sucked into the filter. A week later, I have 2 chia pet sprouts on the bottom of my tank, they grew faster than they did on the actual chia pet. Opinions? Should I put more in to see what happens?

Can we see some pictures of this? Sounds pretty neat!

Put the whole chia head in the tank!

No, Just kidding. I wonder what types of glue and plant seed they use in the chia kits.

So...
Sounds like you really scored big this Christmas huh? Man, I always wanted one of those!!

Because of the flowers? Is it because they won't sprout underwater or something?

They did sprout underwater, quicker than they did on my actual Chia-pet. I can't see what's wrong with them from that passage either.

Seeing as how they're not grown in a wet environment, they probably won't make it past the sprout stage. But you can keep them in and just remove them if they don't look like they're doing well.

I know chia's edible for people, and they taste a lot like alfalfa sprouts. I kept a chia pet in college just for adding on to my crappy cafeteria sandwiches :P
