Hi!
Ten days ago, I bought a colony of 12 H. formosa (3M/9F) and put them in a 5gal tank just for them. There is a sponge filter and a bunch of fake plants and grass, to create shelter for the fry. I have seen 3 fry today and I have read that they do not tend to molest their fry...is this true according to your experiences? Also, I'm not sure if the fry will eat well with the adults in the same tank...what do you think according to your experiences?
Thanks!

I like to remove the fry from the adult tank and raise them seperately. It is easier to make sure they are getting food of the proper size and proportions. At least that is what I do.

Thanks for your reply, Wendy! How many H. formosa do you have? Can you describe their tank and your general experience with this species?

I just leave fry in the tank and just crush the flake food up a little more. I started with 12 about a year ago(1 male 11 females) in a ten gallon tank. Now I have over a hundred in a 40 breeder. I would have more but gave some to friends and fed some to other fish. The parents really don't seem to bother the fry. Occasionally they try to eat one but give up chasing it almost immediately.
