I wouldn't put sunfish with fancy goldfish. I did it once when I was a kid. I woke up one day and the sunfish had plucked off the eye of my black moor. :(. Comets or another less compromised goldfish variety my do OK, but honestly sunfish are fascinating fish in their own right and worth doing a setup for.

A Sunfish? Yes. A Pumpkinseed Sunfish? Yeah, right!!! The only members of the genus Lepomis I would consider keeping with Goldfish are Orange Spots, Dollars, and possibly Fliers. But I wouldn't actually do it unless there was life or death emergency, because what would there be to lose?Sunfish of the genus Enneacanthus would be much better choices, and a male Blue Spot in full dress is a serious sight to see. Don't let the pic fool you, the spots are really a beautiful blue, but it's one of those things that a camera just can't do justice to.

In most cases personality in fish = aggression.

That stinks because my brother likes zombie fish; danios guppies tetras etc basicly the small little schooling fish. I see those as toys for my cichlids.

Have you thought about a school of dace or shiners of some sort with Sunfish. They do much better than Goldfish and will satisfy your brothers enjoyment of a schooling species.

Id worry about the Sunny shredding up a fancy long-finned Goldfish, but Ive kept Pumpkinseeds with Comet Goldfish. I keep Pumpkinseeds and Bluegills. There personality/agression is why I study them. Pumpkin WILL shred long fins
