Can i use saltwater test kit for freshwater tank?

I been testing my tank, and just looked.... it's the saltwater master test kit... I thought I got the freshwater master test kit.

It tests for all the same things, do I need to get the freshwater one or can I use this one?

You will need to get the Freshwater one to get accurate readings.

This is my very first fish tank.... I have to make sure to cycle it, and add fish. to make sure I dont kill off any of em before I can get another tank.

Some of them are probably salt and freshwater, for example my api ammonia test is fresh and saltwater. It says somewhere...I just can't remember where.....

you dont have to buy new ones but you need the fw cards. i would try to take it back and get the right one......

I would go back to the store where you purchased it from and attempt to EXCHANGE it for a fw test kit. Keyword, exchange; most stores accept exchanges.

If not, I guess your only option is to buy another test kit, freshwater this time.
