i've a bumblebee goby in my brackish tank. i'm feeding it a bloodworm every other day (when i feed my f8 puffer bloodworms). it seems the bloodworm is too big for it. after it swallows the bloodworm, it opens its mouth wide, and seems to try to spit it out (but sometimes never seem to). there was once i saw it spit out the (transparent) exoskeleton of the bloodworm after a few minutes. would this be alright?

What size blood worms are you using? I get the living tubeflex worms or whatever they're called from my LFS and feed them. My Bumblebee's will eat anywhere from 2-7 of them just fine. Though, I'm wanting to switch over to something that will stay alive in salt water unlike the worms I've been feeding. Mine are almost full sized, too, if that makes any difference.

i try to get the thinnest worm i can, at around 1/2 inch. i'm using hikari frozen bloodworms. the only thing i can feed the bumblebee goby out of my puffer's diet is bloodworms (i cannot feed the bumblebee goby clams or frozen shrimp, which i'm also feeding my puffer). i'm trying not to feed live food to avoid diseases or infection.

it sounds like they don't like the taste of / don't want to eat.. bumblebee's are known for being incredibly picky eaters..

the only thing i could get mine to eat is live blackworms from the LFS.. that is what the fish shop had been feeding them, and they didn't eat for a week when i was trying to give them frozen bloodworms and other various frozen and dried foods. i didn't have any problems getting the blackworms to stay alive in the brackish (1.005) water - they would dig down in the sand substrate and get eaten as a snack later on..
