Doe any one know about the Bumble Bee Catfish. How lage a tank is needed? What does it eat? Is it a community fish? Ect.
Thank in advance.

Moving to the Catfish forum. OG

I've never had the bublebees, but I seem to recall reading that they were a seldom seen fish. They hide during the day, and spend a lot of time buried in the substrate as well. Many people said they didn't see them more than once a month and during large scale re-arranging/breakdown. Compatible in groups, don't recall anyone having conflicts with them and other fish. Think they eat most prepared foods, need more meat than greens.

ive had one for a while, although he just died last week(swelled up) not sure how he died, but anywyas, wickedly cool fish though. true it doesnt come out much during they day, but i would reccommend puting a small floor light next to it, and you will see him swimming around. very active at night, and i kept him with everything from rams to neons to mollys. im sure he could have stayed with oscars once he readed his full length. not sure how big they get, but mine was up to about 4 inches when he died. has him a little over a year. i fed him shrimp pellets, if i targeted it good enough, i could get him to come out during the day. anyways, very cool fish, i would recommend them to anyone :)

there are 2 kinds- the south american that gets as big as your thumb [well, my thumb anyway] . and the asian- the male gets almost 6" and skinny the female 6" and quite a bit fatter.

i've have both. rarely seen. i can see the tail of the male asian BB because it sticks out of the hole in the stump - he's gotten too big for his hidey hole.. i had a sa bb cat about 2" long and real nice and fat but havent seen him in 6 months. i see another sa bb cat i picked up who's only 1" when i clean the tank.

the asian ones are supposedly quite friendly and gather in packs in hiding places. not sure so much about the south american.

try planetcatfish.com, they've got species listing on 4 bumblebees.

I've got 5 of these little guys (I don't think they are the asians, but the others) and they come out all the time for feedings. When I 1st got them, they didn't come out at all but now they can tell when the other fish are being fed and they all come racing out together. They are really cool little guys.

are you thinking of a bumblebee goby by any chance tando?
