I'm a newbie to this forum and need help. My husband and I have bought our first home and decided that we want to build our own pond. I have been doing a lot of research of whether I wanted to get it done professionally or do it myself and decided I wanted to do it myself so I can get exactly what I want. I have researched what I need to do, equipment I will need, the type of pond I want to make but now I'm having trouble finding what I need most, a 800-1000 gallon pre-formed pond. Because my mother in law is going to be moving in about 2 years with her RES (red earred slider) I didnt want to get the liners. Does anyone know where I can find a pre-formed pond that holds 800-1000 gallons?

A preformed pond of that size would be extremely difficult to ship... and therefore quite expensive to ship. A 1000G pond with an average depth of only 2' would measure 6' x 12'.

You might want to consider building one using cinder blocks or concrete and then lining it with a spray on liner.

Are you planning on keeping goldfish in with the RES? They may become prey/food.

I have a DIY Pond page on my blog http://GoldLenny.blogspot.com with lots of free info including downloadable pond building e-Books. The link to the DIY Pond page is on the right.
