I had posted this question in a previous thread, but I can't find the thread on the forums anymore, so here goes.

Some time ago I bought a pair of bristle-nose plecos at my LFS. At the time they were too young to sex, but as they grew it became clear I had a male and a female. They live in my 40-Long with a school of 9 pristella tetras, 3 bronze corys, and 2 Bolivian Rams. Around Christmas time they bred. From that brood three survived, which I gave away recently, once they reached a good size, to other aquarists I know. Well, the happy couple has bred again, and now I have about 10-12 baby bristle-nose plecos swimming around the aquarium. I wasn't planning on breeding tem, and I haven't been feeding fry food, but they're thriving anyway.

My questions are two
1. What should I do with these babies? If people are interested in them I'd be happy to make thaat connection, but I don't know the first thing about doing that.
2. Do I really have to give away one of the adults to stop them from breeding? I like having my tank as a community tank not a pleco breeding one.

The ONLY way to keep BNs from breeding is to separate the male and female. That is the only way. Sorry, but that's nature. I answered your PM with some suggestions. Let me know how you make out...

Or trade the male for another female.
