Hi, my pleco has some wite edging on two of his fins. Another fish in the tank has some bad fin rot going and I suppose the pleco caught it from him.

Anyway, last Sunday, I started treating them with Jungle Fungus Clear (contains Nitrofurazone, Furazolidone and potassium dichromate -- similar to Furanase). It seems to have definately stopped the fin rot from getting worse and the other fish seems to be improving but I just can't tell if the pleco is getting better or not. The Fungus Clear (yes, I know it's not a fungus, but it's also for fin rot) says to put it in and then put more in after a water change in four days, if needed. Well, we've gone through two four day treatments and I'm ready to stop with the Fungus Clear.

Do you recommend adding Melafix now? Giving the pleco his own salt bath or something? Just leaving him be and see if he gets better?

Thanks.

All my bristlenose have a white trim around their fins--this is natural coloration. Unless the fin is frayed, I doubt there's a problem.

hmm it's not frayed

so maybe there's no problem. I just don't remember the white bits being there until recently. It's a young pleco, though.

They will change color significantly as they mature. The number, size, and shape of spots will change as they mature as well.
