I have a 30 gallon tall tank with two glo-light tetras, three gold neon tetras, many fancy guppies that have no trouble at all breeding like crazy, two cory cats, one pleco, one chinese algae eater, four mystery snails, tons of ramshorn snails, and many ghost shrimp plus a couple cherry red shrimp. I see ghost shrimps with eggs alll the time, but I've never seen eggs on any plants or anything like that. As far as I can tell, there are no baby shrimp in the tank, but I'm sure they're very hard to see. Will I ever have shrimp babies? Is there anything I can do to help them along?

lets start with are you sure they were fertilized? If they are fertilized youll see a dot on them(their eyes). Next, do your shrimp feel safe?(is there plants and spots to hide, so on and so forth) Next what kind of filter are you using? (Do you have a prefilter or sponge filter) Without something to cover your intake it wont matter if the shrimp hatch cuz theyll be sucked in. If you make it through all of these with a yes to each question then you have to look at your fish eating them. Shrimp are a natural resource for fish. Plus ghost shrimp are from all accounts harder to mate than other shrimp species. Good Luck

Ghost shrimp are also very likely to feed on young cherry shrimplets. Lots of plants and some Java moss would help giving them places to hide. Plus a prefilter as said above.

Most species of ghost shrimp (there are dozens or more collected/sold under that generic common name) require salt water for the larvae to develop. If you want to breed shrimp set up a 10 gallon tank with an air-driven sponge filter and stock it with cherry shrimp. Any of those that do breed in your community tank will be picked off before they grow to any size.

Plecos are about the only fish you can keep with shrimp and not lose the baby shrimp to predation.
this not true. i know many people say that. but most small sized algae eaters are fine with shrimp. and also if the shrimp hatched, alot of them would have survived because i use to kept cherry shrimp with dwarf rainbows and the shrimplets were overgrowing the tank. and yeh many ppl hav sed it already, they needa feel safe before hatching- means u need to give them hiding places e.g. java moss

If you have enough hiding spots cherry shrimp have no problem breeding in a community tank, I have them in with a Betta, Bolivian Rams, platys, BN Plec, Cories, Kuhli loaches. The population isn't booming like when I have them by themselves but its growing.
