Do I just keep a bunch in a planted tank or do I need to do something special? Do I need to remove the parents after a while so the babies won't get eaten? How do I spot the laid eggs or do they keep them under their tails until they hatch?

What temp water? Filtration? Can you sex males from females? If you can, what amount of each for a breeding set up?

Thanks!

Do I just keep a bunch in a planted tank or do I need to do something special? Just make sure the intake is covered with a sponge or use a sponge filter to keep the babies safe. You have to feed them.Do I need to remove the parents after a while so the babies won't get eaten? No, they are not aggressive to each otherHow do I spot the laid eggs or do they keep them under their tails until they hatch? They are kept in the swimmerettes until they hatch.

What temp water? They do well in a broad range of tropical temps, i keep my shrimp tanks at about 74.Filtration?Sponge filter is best or a filter with the intake covered. Can you sex males from females? Yes, males are more clear, the females develop a "saddle" or visible ovaries when sexually mature. If you can, what amount of each for a breeding set up? I don't think there is a recommended ratio, they are very easy breeders.

Responses in bold. What size tank? that determines your numbers more than anything else. They require pristine water conditions and do not tolerate fluctuations of ammo, trite, or trate very well.

Jinx pretty much got it there. As long as the water paramaters are good, ammo 0 trite 0 and trate <10 they should be good to go. I just have a heavily planted tank (which keeps trates at 0) and a sponge filter (they love picking stuff off of it). I keep the tank at about 76-77 and it's my lowest maintance tank. I LOVE IT!

I don't know, what size tank should I use? I have a 2.5, a 5, a ten, and a 20 tall and a 20 long. I would prefer to use one of the small ones.

Will they eat plants or do I need to add anything? Spirulina? Crushed tropical flakes? Any kind of special plants?

Trates have to be at 10???

They will "graze" on the microorganisms on the plants but will need supplemental food. I would put them in the 10g if you can spare it as they multiply quickly. Nitrates do not have to be at 10, but need to be kept consistently low and the tank must be cycled. I feed a mix of algae wafers, hikari crab cuisine, and home made foods but they will eat anything.
