Hello, all! I'm not sure if I should be posting this here, or in the indoor ponds section... hmmm.

Ok, I am getting a 55 gallon tank next week that I am planning to set up as an Asian themed fancy goldfish aquarium (orandas & telescopes)... Temp will be at 72-75. I would LOVE to put a real (dwarf) bowl lotus in the tank, planted in one of those blue & white Chinese fishbowl/planters, along with some cool rocks and a large dragon bubbler. Does anyone know if this will work? The tank would stay open topped, with a grow light above the tank, and it would sit in front of a window that doesn't get much direct sunlight. Thoughts, anyone?

Thanks!
Jamie

The lotus would definitley be in the pond plant category, and they have thick leaves and VERY tough stems that shoot up... I'm not saying they wouldn't get nibbled on at all, but, not very likely fancies could completely decimate them. I was more wondering about light requirements, and if an artificial grow light focused on the plant would be sufficient. Something like anacharis, sure- that would get munched down to nothing in 10 minutes flat. I also feed veggies to my guys few times a week, so, they aren't totally "plant nutty". I had a few real ones (java fern) in there before I had to do a salt treatment for ich, and they nibbled a little, but left them alone for the most part.

Thanks for the input, though- any comments and advice are appreciated. :D
