I got 4 baby bn plecos about 8 months ago, and 3 of them are now ~3 in long. One however is only about 1.5in and has what appears to be a deformed mouth.

The pic is just for reference because i dont have a good enough camera to get a good pic, but when the pleco is on the glass, a normal healthy one has 2 sets of teeth? one set on top and one on bottom. My pleco is missing the top left section of teeth. the part circled in the pic.

It doesn't appear to be underfed, just isnt growing as fast as the others. Do you all think this pleco will be ok and grow to normal size?

I wish I could help. =/ I just got my L144s about a week and a half ago, and growing like wildfire. I swear they've grown about half an inch since I got them. They are 1.5" now. I haven't noticed this in mine, but I'm following the thread.

If the BN is growing I wouldn't be to concerned. I have been breeding BN plecs of different types for a while and in each spawn you have those that thrive amazingly and those who take a little longer. Just keep the water conditions up to scratch and make sure it is getting food and eventually it will grow the same size as the other BN's.

There are largest and smallest in every batch of fish. I wouldn't be concerned with it as long as you see that it has a nice round tummy when it's up against the aquarium glass. Half the size is a considerable amount of time that this fish has been behind in growth. It may just be a runt, it also may have a congenital problem hindering growth that you can't see.

I have the same problem, my male BN grows like a weed but my female has been staying around 1" for a few months now. I've tried moving them to seperate tanks to get my little one more food, but she still doesn't grow...

Yea I figured it was just the runt, but dosnt seem to be growing much. I'm going to qt him/her and see if that helps any. I will borrow a good camera and see if I can get a good pic also.
