I have a female blue pearl shrimp that looks like she has eggs or something in the meat of her tail...
Any insight on this?

Probably does.

They probably are in fact eggs....she is probably berried and you are about to have more shrimp in 28 days or so give or take.. Congrats! lol. You can post a pic if you are worried that's not really what it is, but shrimp carry their eggs under their tail and fan them with their spinnerets, so it sounds like a berried shrimp to me.

She might be sick. When mine were dying from copper a few months back, their bodies all turned white before they died. If the meat is turning white, then I would worry. If it is the exoskeleton, it might just be a color mutation or possibly a mineral deficiency. Do you offer them calcium supplements somehow?

You pretty much cant go wrong with a water change, I would do at least 50% just in case there's something funky with the water. What are your parameters at?

If she is in fact sick, then you might want to isolate her until the problem resolves itself.

No :( She isn't berried. It's like her tail meat is turning white, but in patches.

I have never seen, but have heard people talk about bacterial illness in shrimp that causes their meat parts to turn white, so that may be what you are dealing with. I would take her out of the tank and put her in some kind of holding/QT tank if you can since you don't want it spreading to your other shrimp. Pictures would definitely help if you could post them. If you can't, you might want to either wait for someone to weigh in that has dealt with shrimp illness, or start researching ways people treat dwarf shrimp illness. I'm not even sure if there are antibiotics people use on shrimp, but I know some people swear by just separating the sick shrimp and cleaning the water and gravel more than usual. Good luck with your shrimp.
