This is a pic of my new blue dolphin (cyrtocara moorii). I have 3 as of now. This bigger one, about 4 inches maybe a little more, and two 2.5 inch. I have three more 3inch+ ordered at my LFS! For a total of 6.

I'm excited.

This week I also get 6 super red severums in, hopefully on Wednesday. I'll post pics.

Waaaaa! Adorable, dude. Absolutely gorgeous fish.

I got more blue dolphins and finally got my red severums!

The severums were actually shipped priority, took 3 days. I'm surprised they were alive! So happy.

So many pics.

Question is,

Is there a way to find out the sex of these severums? Now or in the future? They are only about 3 inches.

I've googled, but I've found nothing significant. That way if you do come down Brian we can try to match em up right.

Ill continue to google. But any help would be wonderful.

These are some kind of cichlids, right? Why not ask about sexing them on the cichlid forum? It's divided up into region, so knowing the region they're from would help.

Nice fish.. but I'd be curious how well they do.
they are fish from 2 totally different regions with different requirements.

The Blue Dolphins african cichlids in usually high pH while severum come from SA aka new world cichlids usually requiring soft acidic water.

My ph is right around 7.4- 7.6 And chances are, where these came from the ph wasn't near their natural waters.

Rather than mess with ph parameters, I feel it is safer to go by your tap, and prevent any ph jumps.

As for aggression between the two, they seem completely fine as of now. The dolphins are a lot larger than them, but the dolphins are no where near as aggressive as other types of cichlids. I have small clowns in the tank also, and a full size jack dempsey. How's that for a mix? Haha.

Everyone swims next to each other. Without the slightest bit of chasing/ aggression.

Lets throw an, arowana in the mix up top in the last picture. It was supplied to be gone yesterday but the guy didnt pick it up. Sigh.

I'm more worried about them paring up and becoming aggressive in the future. But you'll have that.
