I really love bettas as much as I love Guppies and Shrimp. However, since I live in a Town house, my space is Very limited. I have a 10 gallon betta breeding tank, a 10 gallon Shrimp / Snail tank, and a 5 gallon guppy tank. I was wondering if Bettas would each shrimp fry or Guppy fry. Since Female Bettas are community fish, I would love to add some into my 10 gallon with the Shrimp. And I would want to add some Guppies into my 10 Gallon as well, but I don't know if they will kill each other. Any :help:??

I have bettas, guppies, shrimp, and other various community fish in my 27g and the shrimp and livebearers always manage to breed succesfully.

You can definitely put the betta into the shrimp tank. I am not sure about the guppies, if they are fry, they will be eaten. If they are adults...well a betta is still a betta. Females are community fish as well, so it may all depend on the individual.

I think that depends on the type of shrimp. Some shrimp filter feed, some dont..

Will shrimp eat Guppy Fry? So you guys are saying that bettas will not harm my shrimp??

The shrimp will eat fry if they can get them... but with the way guppies breed it will be a good thing.

And the betta MIGHT harm the shrimp.. you would really never know until you put them together. Mine pesonally acts like he doesnt even know that there are shrimp in there.

And bettas sometimes confuse male guppies with other bettas and could potentially attack them relentlessly... but IMO this isnt as common as people make it seem.

and on the other hand.. mine acts like they werent there either.. but that's because he ate them. i saw some legs sticking out of his mouth once.

My 1 1/2 inch Keyhole managed to hunt down all the ghost shrimp I put in the tank...so size is not always a factor in what a fish will or will not kill.

Some bettas will eat shrimp, and others will not. You could always just do a test run by putting a few shrimp in the betta tank and see if they start disappearing.

Good idea, I will start off putting some guppies and cherry shrimp and a betta into a 1.5 gallon for a week. If the outcomes are okay, then I will separate the guppies and keep a male betta in the 10 gallon with the shrimp. This is because the guppies will breed and I don't want to find out if my shrimp or betta will eat my guppy fry.
