Bettas and Clown Loaches?

Can bettas and Clown Loaches be successful tank mates?
Also I have a 20 gallon and a 4 gallon. I have a choice.
1. Keep betta in 4 gallon and make 20 gallon a saltwater tank.
2. Keep betta in 20 gallon and get fish compatible with it.
Which is better?

If you're putting the loaches in the 20g with the betta.......no. The loaches grow too large for the tank.

If you're keeping them together in a tank large enough for the loaches when they're adults (i.e. 100g)..........no. The loaches eat small fish when they're adults.

If you're just growing out baby loaches in a smaller tank.....yeah, it's fine. I'm growing out 3 juvie clowns and I put my new white betta in there and they're fine.

How about the smaller ones? I know that there are bigger ones for around 20$ but smaller ones around 8-9$..?

Clown loaches are slow growers so a 20 would be alright for small ones for a few months but then you'd have to find a larger home for them.
