I have a ten gallon aquarium and I introduced two very small snails. Everything was fine, then there were baby snails. I noticed quite a few on the sides of my aquarium, but the next day there were only a couple. I am afraid my mail betta is eating them. I have not seen him eat one yet. If he is eating them, is this bad? Will he overeat? Should I not feed him? Should I feed him something special so he has a variety in his diet? Will snails make him constipated? I just don't know what to do.

I have one male betta, three white clouds, two Harlequin Rasbora's, and one clown pleco. The betta is new to the aquarium, so that is why he is the prime suspect.

Bettas will go after small snails, as well as snail eggs. Not uncommon, and not a problem for the fish. Snails are actually a very healthy staple--provides meat, as well as the vegetation the snails consumed.

Thanks!
