Best Heater and Filter for a 55 and 90

Pet Solutions has the Magnum 350 canister on sale again for $85. With a coupon about $90 shipped and the magnum can easily handled my 125 tank because I have one on my 125. The magnum is a very good mechanical, Bio, and chem filter. Only the people that never owned them or never learned how to use them (easy) will say no. easily out performs a Fluval 405 because I own two of both.

Well you know when it comes to bio wheels I really do think they belong on HOB's LOL. The regular magnum which is the something except for the bio wheel attachment, already come with a vacuum attachment adapter for your Python or vacuum tool. This allows you to vacuum up debris on the bottom (fish poop) right into the filter without having to loose water to a bucket between water changes which too me is much more important feature that other canisters cannot perform. IMO if I want to take up valuable space on the back of my aquarium, I would rather have bio-wheels built in to a full HOB with filter cartridges, then some standalone apparatus plumbing pulling off flow from my Magnum needed for circulation.

if you're looking for the best heater

i say look no further than hydor Eth in line heaters
if you're looking for cost effective, visi therm stealths are indeed good:)

OH something else I should have mentioned in all fairness to the Fluval 404/405 (identical). The Fluval strengths over the Magnum 350 are user friendliness, great looks even outside the cabinet, convenient basket media loading which gives it a high cool factor, and requires a much less thorough cleaning of the canister.

Although the magnum 350 IMO out performs the Fluval in actual filtering ability, GPH, and especially endurance before having to cleaning almost 2 month to Fluval 3 weeks. The Magnum is truly ugly inside or outside the cabinet and looks like a transparent garbage disposal. The Magnum although quiet can be heard 3 feet away where as the Fluval is dead silent. While the magnum has larger inside diameter hoses 3/4 inch hoses that are smooth on the inside to prevent clogging, the Magnum hoses are stiff and hard to manipulate to prevent kinking. Compared to the Fluval's 1/2 inch inside corrugated tubing which are always flexible and mover friendly however because of this the corrugated tubes also catch and hold alot of debris clogging faster then the filter itself (a coming DIY fix).

So bottom line is if you want great performance, aren't afraid to carefully follow instructions, spend 30 minutes cleaning the filter for 2 month of uninterrupted use, and possibly labeled uncool for using a filter that has been around for 22 years, many of which are sill working, buy the Magnum.;)

those are a bit pricey... how about 2 150w stealth heaters or 1 200w hydor Eth in line?

magnum it is.
