My banana plant has lost its tubers or bananas. If I am thinking correctly isn't that the nutrient storage device. Is my plant going to die now? Will it grow new ones? Why did they fall off? So many questions. The banana cluster was given to me by my lfs. They said they thought that it was dead. I took it home and dropped it in my 29 gl and in 2 days had little roots growing out of the end of the tubers. It has been growing beautifully for about 6-8 months and I noticed this morning that the tubers are gone. It has just put up a lilly pad, it just hasn't opened yet. The leaves are still bright green and alive.

hmm strange, i have alot of banana plants and have never seen that happen

I have had a banana plant since Dec., and the same thing happened. I just stuck it in the substrata and it is doing great, bright green leaves. In fact I cut a couple of the leaves off this AM 'cuz someone has been nibbling big time ! Wonder who it could be ? Good luck !!

If you have leaves that grow to the top of the tank. cut them off near the base and cut them into pieces about 3-4" long. After a week or so, you'll get little roots coming out of them and you will have some little baby banana plants. Mine never got the "bananas", but they looked just the same otherwise.

So I need to cut the lilly pad stem off at the base and cut the stem up into pieces fo 3-4" and it will start new plants. Will it hurt that the lilly pad leaf hasn't opened yet.

they dont need their "bananas" i had mine for a year and a half without them. every time it tries to make a 'lily pad' i stop it because i hear it would die after
