Background

On the back of my tank I put up a black background that you buy at the fish store. Ever since I got my lawnmower blenny he just stares at the back wall and tries to attack it. The background has a gloss to it so I am thinking he can see his reflection and thinks it is another blenny in the tank. Any ideas of what I can change my background to that wont have a gloss and will be waterproof? It's to late to paint b/c it is up against the wall. Thanks, Scott

Are you sure he isn't just picking at algae growing there?

Some fish do react to their reflection, my yellow tang used to do it quite alot untill it lost its reflectivness....

Sometimes it looks like my Lawnmower Blenny is "attacking" the glass - but he's just grabbing at the algae!

He might be going after algae but I keep my glass pretty clean. I keep my rocks away from the wall so I can get my magnet scraper all the way around the tank. I dont see any algae on the wall but there probably is some that I cant see. I will wait it out and see if he stops.
