many people hatch baby brine shrimp to feed to their fry, but has anyone ever heard of newly hatched mosquito larvae? I thought about it and hatched up some mosquito larvae. my con fry liked it, but has anyone else done this?

No, they are midge larvae.
I have collected mosquito larvae for my fish and they like it a lot. I have never actually hatched them myself though just collected them.

really only difference is that they cannot carry disease and do not bite.
but looks/act the same.
I have two buckets in my yard to breed them. My fish love them.
I think it actually keeps the mosquito population down at my house. I guess the mosquitoes prefer laying their eggs there over other small puddles scattered around. I try to collect all the larvae before they turn into mosquitoes. I think it takes about 7 days.
I did not do this last year and I remember the mosquitoes driving me nuts. This year I have had no real problems with mosquitoes; of course this could all be just a coincidence.

No, it's not the same thing. Why can't people accept that? sheesh....:wall: Just because something resembles the other doesn't mean they are the same thing. Bloodworms are midge larvae, not mosquito larvae. If you keep saying they are mosquito larvae you are helping to spread misinformation. You learned something new today accept that for what it is and stop trying to compromise. :shakehead:
