would it be ok to have an aquarium by a window? It wouldn't be directly in front of the window and the window faces north, so it doesn't get direct sunlight. But a prime spot for a potential tank is by a this one window. The blinds aren't open all the way, sometimes not at all, but mostly partially open. Would this be algae suicide or would it be manageable. Thanks for your advice!

It all depends Walstad npt's often use sunlight as an extra light source. I personally have two tanks on a wall next to a northern window with no ill effects.

It depends on the intesity and duration of light it gets from the indirect sun and how much you provide the other way, but still i would say it should be managible.

I've had them by the window before... it's great for a planted aquarium. :)

Get a SAE to keep the algae buildup down...

As long as it doesn't affect the temperature it should be fine. :)

Plant the heck out of it and get you some inverts.

I have two tanks on both sides of a south-facing window, two tanks next to a north-facing window and one tank next to a window that faces west. Never had a problem with algae in any of them.
