i have an aqua-tech 5-15 and it's doing a decent job on filtering my 10 gallon, but i wanna upgrade and so i want mod the filter so it can filter a 20 gallon tank just as well. any ideas?? it already has 100gph btw

an "upgrade" would be a larger filter. its not going to pump more water so i dont see any mods you can do.

My first filter was that one. I thought it was decent until I bought an aqua clear. It's so much easier to clean. The motor twists off so you can clean the impeller. The flow is adjustable. The filter media fits into a basket kind of thing which is easy to pull out without moving the filter. I also use polyester fiberfil from Walmart instead of the sponge and no charcoal.

I like it so much I bought a larger one for my 33g.

What mod can you possibly do? You cannot increase gph and media capacity. Buy a good filter with at least 200 gph.

I often use the smaller filters as a second filter on my tanks. I feel like you can't over filter.

if you want it to do the same job on a bigger tank you'll need the same fish and no more.

get another 5-15? two of those would do a fine job on a 20g. is the impeller removable? sometimes filter companies use the same size impeller but with a different amount of paddles... or whatever their called, to change flow. sometimes you can change out the impeller to get different flow but aqua-tech most likely doesnt have a good source for replacement parts.

Best of luck to ya :hi:
