I'm looking into this software primarily because I like to tinker with apps, settings, etc. Beyond that, I have this bad history with various updates for various companies (*cough* HP *cough* Microsoft *cough* *cough*) causing severe or disastrous problems. I still regularly back everything up, ranging from data files to full system images, so that much is still covered. Anyway, the software looks very intriguing, but almost too good to be true. Does it work? Any incompatibilities with any other apps? I just want to get the lowdown on this app before I fork out the fee to buy a license.

it does work. you can change everything when the comp restart it goes back to when you set it up. to change anything you have to hit 3 keys plus enter a pw. then you are able to set it up how you like have it restart and its locked. only draw back is you cant save anything which might be a problem.

check out steadystate from MS does the same thing and is free.

Wow, thanks MG! I can't believe I missed that one. I'll check out SteadyState first.

Edit: looks like SS actually has more features and customization than the standard edition of DF. I'd have to shell out $$$$ for their enterprise edition for the same feature set

Edit2: hmm, doesn't look like it is Win7 compatible as of yet. At least I can't find anything official on it, short of it saying xp/vista compatible.
