It may sound stupid, but its the size of tank I feel I can maintain right now, I don't want my fish aquarium to become more of a hassel instead of something enjoy, so I plan on slowly working my way up to larger size tanks instead of jumping right in becoming overwhelmed. Anyway, I love bottom dwellers, specifically catfish, and I would really like to start with one, but if I can't, then I can get one later down the road when i have a larger aquarium. =]

Otocinclus are pretty small. I'm sure you'd want more than one though, and then it may be pushing it for a 5 gallon.

oto's want to be a group of 3-4 or more and a 5 gallon would NEVER provide the food for them. You'd have to supplement with veggies. I personally wouldn't recommend any catfish for a 5 gallon.

Definitely not otos. And the 5G is really small for even the pygmy cories. Cories are active and on the go a lot. That tank wouldn't give them much area.

Don't think 5g will provide ample housing for any of the dwarf kitties as they should all be kept in groups. Unless all you would have would be a small group of dwarf cories and nothing else.

Oto's would definatley be out of the mix.

I'd suggest just starting with a ten gal if you 'd prefer smaller tanks.
You can house a wider variety of fish and they are the easiest tanks to find used and in kits.

To answer your question, I wonder if you could get Hara species catfish. These catfish( at least from what I saw) are tiny.

I may just go with the 10 gallon, but i just gave my old one away to a friend, haha, then after helping her get it started, i decided i wanted to have one again, but it would just be a few of the catfish and maybe a low light plant, if i'd have enough room.

A 10 would open up more options for you. You could then get a nice school of dwarfs and have plants. They'll thank you for the extry space. ;)
