Angelfish blindness....

I believe that my beloved angelfish is actually going blind. I have had her for over 4 years, she was a juvenile when I got her, and she isn't much bigger than the palm of my hand (which obviously you can't see). She has lived in a 55 gallon aquarium with 5 platys and 2 bristlenose for past 4 years also. We have not added any new inhabitants, her routine is the still the same and we do water changes every other week. All of my param's are normal. I'm not an expert on what kind of filter I have hanging on the back of the tank or anything like that. I don't use the dip stick test kits to test for ammonia or anything else, it is actually the drops/test tube testing kits.

Basically what has happened is I wake up this morning and she was swimming around the tank, bumping into the decorations and plants. I turn the lights on and usually she will dart strait to the top of the tank, however this time she continued to float around, barely moving fins. I fed them this evening and I notice that she went to the top of the tank however she was unable to actually find the food, instead she swam dormant for a while until something floated her way and then attempted to eat.

I know that is a very vague description, however if somebody could please help me out with this, it has me concerned. I did a search on "angelfish blindness" and the results were not very impressive.

She's not going blind. Chances are she's either really stressed or sick. If she was going blind her eyes would turn an opaque milky white. See if there is anything else that is abnormal besides her behavior, such as her appearance.

There is nothing abnormal about her appearance, however if she is unable to find the food and continues to run into things, then I am sure that she is going to loose weight and then her appearance will most definetly change.

This morning was the same scenario, except she was in the same place that she was in last night when I went to bed. She hasn't moved from that one spot and if she did then she returned to it.

angels can go a long time with not food..I recently treated my wild scalare for camillanus.(never saw them but the Sx was internal parasites.)

they will hide, not eat(even swim away or into food) and they may bump into things..they don't feel well when this happens.
I thought maybe mine was blind..or couldn't see food/
I treated with Parasite clear(or gerneral cure parasite) and then Levamisole Hcl.

it took about 3-4 weeks but now they are eating and very healthy.

btw..angels should live a long time(10 years)

unless her pupil is white or extremely small, she is probably not going blind.

if she is running into things and ignoring food, she may have an internal bacterial or parasitic infection.
