This is a picture is of my Angelfish. I don't know a whole lot about them, aside from the proper feeding and environment. I believe mine may be male, based on the profile of the head. Is this considered a "Gold Blushing" angel? Most importantly, does it look okay in regards to physical development?
Apparently it's parents were not supposed to breed, I initially suspected inbreeding but was never told for sure. Anyway the baby angels were brought to my LFS and ultimately sold because neither the angels owner or the LFS owner wanted to destroy the stock. The baby angles had a lot of physical deformities. Fins at odd angles, fins in odd shapes and fins in odd places and so one. But I found one that seemed perfectly formed so I took it and the LFS owner christened it Snowflake.
Snowflake's body was around the size of a nickel when I got him and now it's a little over two inches in diameter, he's about tripled in size I guess. I've had him for about ten months. His color was initially a light yellow/green with the blush on the cheeks. As he's grown, his become a cream color with gold on the head and a random smattering of pearl scales.
He currently resides in a 55 planted community tank with rummynose tetras, green corys and two upside down cats. I have to reduce my number of tanks so I will be moving Snowflake and getting rid of the 55. My options are a 29 or a 40 breeder. I've read that 16 inches is the minimum recommended tank height for angels. Does anyone have any opinions as to which tank would be better? I would prefer he had the room of the 40 but I'm not sure if it's more important that he have the extra height of the 29. How many in others in the current community tank could reside with him in those tanks?
Like I said, I don't know a whole lot about Angels, so please feel free to evaluate honestly.
Thank you!
